Upcoming concert dates & concert report!

Looks like California is going to be a little more popular this year with the Southern Gospel artists than it has been for the past several! I am pleased. :)

The Collingsworth Family will be headed this way come May!
  • Visalia: May 1st and 2nd (I believe they'll be one of many groups performing. My guess is that they'll be gracing the platform only a few times on these particular days.)
  • Roseville: May 3rd
  • Modesto: May 6th
  • Red Bluff: May 7th
And for those of you who live a tad more north and feel like putting a little extra mileage on your car:
  • Vancouver, WA: May 8th
  • Spokane, WA: May 9th

Mark Lowry, The Martins, and Stan Whitmire have teamed up and will also be hitting the Golden State come June. Here are the dates and locations:
  • Red Bluff: June 18th
  • Sacramento: June 19th
  • Santa Ana: June 20th
  • Fresno: June 21st

Now, I am very happy about this next announcement: The Gaither Vocal Band and the Homecoming crew will be here in October!
  • Visalia: October 2nd
  • Ontario: October 3rd
There was a third place listed in the San Diego area but I see that has been removed... Just as long as these two stay! :)

Speaking of the GVB, as I mentioned in the last post, they have two DVDs being released on March 17th. You can view (most of) one of the DVDs by clicking on this link: http://gaither.com/news/watch-gvb-sometimes-it-takes-mountain-gaithercom-tv
If for some reason that doesn't work for you, go to gaither.com and look on the right hand side of the page under 'The Latest'. Click on 'Watch GVB Sometimes It Takes A Mountain'. Enjoy! :)

The Nelons were here in Fresno this past weekend so my mom and I decided to head on down. After hearing that Sis. Susan, Sis. Mary and Jess were also planning to attend the concert, we decided to meet up.  It was fun sharing the concert experience with them! (There was a lady seated in front of us and I don't think anyone has ever enjoyed a concert as much as she! :) I enjoyed just watching her!)

The Nelons consist of Kelly (Rex Nelon's daughter), her husband, and Kelly's two daughters.  They covered old and new, as well as some a cappella. They did a nice job of mixing it up. I think the a cappella version of 'Tis So Sweet To Trust In Jesus was probably my favorite performance of the night. It just kind-of made you go... WOW.

After the intermission, they had what they called a 'hymn-sing'. A local music group joined them on stage and everyone sang along, with a few solos from the artists thrown in here and there.  It was nice to hear some of those wonderful old hymns sung in a world where they seem to be slipping through our fingers... May they always live on.

P.S. The man in the back with the darker suit on took a countrified twirl on the keys! I loved it.  So much fun!

On that note, I will close... :)

Until next time,
Mizz Babs
